I get asked this quite a lot "How do I get my child into modeling"? Well, here are some of the in and outs of "the business".
- First, before you even think about this business you need to ask yourself, can I, my spouse or family member take off the whole day and commit to a" job" sometimes at a moments notice? If yes, then move on. If no, then this is not for you. Modeling jobs happen 7days a week with call time a lot at 6am. You might get a booking to be at Haulover Beach on a Tuesday at 6:45 am, can you be there? It also might last 1, 2 or even 5 hours and you need to be ready for that.
- What are agencies looking for? We all love our babies and we think they are the cutest, smartest and the most talented baby ever, right? Well, so does every parent out there. So babies have a lot of competition. If your baby loves to go to other people and is not shy- than thats a major plus. If they are shy, timid or just have major mommy-itis, you might want to wait a bit. Kids in the pre-teen age and up, they have less competition. This seems to be the age when they have lots of other activities and modeling just gets in the way. Its a big commitment.
- Be aware of scams!! Legit agencies, don't ask for any money to join there business.
- Submit one great quality photograph to the agent and if they're interested, they will call you and guide you in the right direction. If you don't hear from them, do give them a call, it can't hurt.
- Here are some of my favorite agents to work with
